Profile: Dr. Matt Arno

Matt joined the Edinburgh Genomics in 2017 as Project Manager and in 2020 became the Laboratory Team Leader. Matt studied for his PhD at King’s College London in the Department of Haematological Medicine, investigating a new method for immune gene-therapy for leukaemia. Subsequent postdoc projects revolved around immune dysfunction in leukaemia and molecular profiling in myelodysplastic syndromes. He has since had more than a decade of experience working with genomics projects at King’s College London, specifically gene expression and transcriptomics studies, using microarray and RNAseq technology. Notable recent projects include characterising transcriptomic effects of dietary Roundup in rats, and investigating how miRNA patterns can influence rejection and regeneration of liver transplants. He obtained a Master’s Degree in Bioinformatics with Systems Biology from Birkbeck College, University of London, to address the need for more analytical support for NGS-type projects.
