Profile: Cathlene Eland

 

 

Dr Cathlene Eland is currently the Lead Sequencing Technologist for the Clinical Genomics HiSeq X Facility based at the Roslin Institute and is responsible for the laboratory and ensuring that samples progress through the lab as quickly and smoothly as possible.  Cathlene obtained her Ph.D. in Plant Science from the University of Nottingham before undertaking a postdoctoral research position at the Umeå Plant Science Centre, part of the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. She then held a number of molecular biology based industrial roles within Central Scotland including Study Director at BioReliance, Glasgow and Project Manager at Tepnel (GenProbe), Livingston. Cathlene then moved to Edinburgh Genomics Genome Science as a Research Associate in the library preparation team and then progressed to Laboratory Manager before moving to her current role at Clinical Genomics.
