Profile: Dr. Karim Gharbi

Dr Karim Gharbi has been at the forefront of high throughput genomics at the University of Edinburgh since 2009. He currently holds the post of Facility Manager, Genome Science and manages the development, implementation and delivery of the facility’s sequencing and array platforms at the King’s Building site. He obtained his PhD from AgroParisTech (formerly Institut National Agronomique Paris-Grignon) and the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA). He previously held a postdoctoral researcher position at the University of Guelph, Canada and a Kelvin-Smith Fellowship at the University of Glasgow, United Kingdom. Dr Gharbi has published over 30 papers across the portfolio of next-generation sequencing applications, and also organises the Next Generation Genomics course of the University’s MSc in Bioinformatics.
